Obesity is not only determined by what foods you consume
on a daily basis, but also how much physical activity you get everyday. Obesity
has even started to affect 10 percent of the preschool aged children. During
a study conducted in 2003 and published in the "International Journal of
Obesity" connected 7 to 11-year-olds’ television and computer use to a
significantly increased risk to being overweight or obese. Children who are spending 3 or more hours a day using technology
had between a 17-44 percent increase of a risk of becoming overweight and/or a
10-61 percent risk in becoming obese. Making the invention of creating stick-on
nanobot sensors would lower this rate of childhood obesity. It would give the
children the motivation to work out in order to play on their technology
devices.
As you can see in this chart the Obesity rate in children has increased even in the last 3 years (2010-2013).
Overall this invention can help reduce the rate of childhood obesity, and help prevent obesity from leading into other diseases, such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, stroke, several types of cancer, and osteoarthritis.
